0.02: PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Nyawawa Primary School and Community Shallow well water:

Nyawawa Community is a clan within Gem Division, Rangwe Sub-county in Homa Bay County and has approximate population of 871 people. The area can be considered as safe-clean water deficit since it has no any piped water system nearby, neither is there any protected springs.

The rivers available are always polluted and therefore not most suitable for domestic use. However, the communities use these rivers to supply their domestic water needs, It therefore means the area is vulnerable to water related infections. Within the community is the Nyawawa Primary School with about 330 pupils. The proposed shallow well will therefore support the general community and the school community.

0.03: SPECIFICE ACHIEVABLE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:

(1) To develop safe clean shallow well Water for use by the community of Nyawawa and the Primary school.

  • Improved school academic performance, more so for girls who are ever sent to fetch for water.
