HOSPITAL MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTS PROJECT 2018

0.01: Background

The Matata Nursing Hospital started its operations in 1992 as a small Community Health Outreach Programme.  It is located in Oyugis Town Rachuonyo South District, Homa-Bay County-Kenya; which has approximate population of 260,000 (2009, Government of Kenya census). The hospital employs 128 people (April 2018 data) composed of medical doctors, nurses, clinicians, technicians, clerks, casuals and the management. It was registered as a hospital by the Ministry of Health in 1992.

The hospital has 200 bed capacity providing comprehensive health services to the communities from Homa Bay and neighboring counties.

With challenges in the public health services which has been devolved, the need for quality health care from Matata Hospital has been increasing and overwhelming, and therefore to meet the overwhelming needs, the Hospital requires the following equipment to strengthen its quality services delivery:

  • Long-Elisa analyzer machine that would give accurate HIV test results and other tests like PSA, etc. for reliable and effective treatment.
  • Modern Operating Theater Lighting system-single arm that will give adequate light for efficient operations.
  • Patient Monitor Machine to assist in the theater before and during operation

0.02: Project Expected impacts:

On successful implementation of the Matata Medical equipment and Instrument Project, we expect the following impacts:

  • Improved quality of health for clients who receive the hospital’s relevant services.
  • Reduced cost of treatment for the local communities who would been going far away to medical facilities seeking for the same services.
  • Increased patients flow into the hospital with the potential of increased income for the hospital.
  • Reduced referral cases for patients to other hospitals, hence life will saved.

The financial estimates for the required medical equipment and instrument for the Hospital’s quality health services delivery are given below:
