The Matata Children’s Hospital Kenya Foundation was established on 18 October 2007.

The board, all volunteers, consists of the following members:

  • Jacqueline van Hoorn, Chairwoman. During her many years as Regional-Director to the Red Cross in Nijmegen she gained significant experience and expertise with projects in Africa. Jacqueline made the first contact with the Matata Children’s Hospital and took the initiative to establish the Matata Foundation.
  • Ad Festen, Treasurer. He has worked 30 years with ING Bank in various commercial positions.
  • Hanne Hulshuizen-Verdonk, PR and Fundraising. She worked as a nursing instructor, nurse, head of a children’s orthopaedic department, indication consultant, nursing and care mediator with a health insurance company in Nijmegen.
