PROJECT NAME: EMERGENCY MEDICALROOM/CENTER

Through Foundation Matata Children’s Hospital Kenya-Netherlands

PROJECT BACKGROUND:

Matata is a level four (4) Hospital within Rachuonyo South District, Homa Bay County.
It has a bed capacity of 120, and providing comprehensive medical care at the institutional level and community integrated health care service delivery. Of the 120 beds are 50 beds for children, 15 beds for maternity care, 35 beds for female patients with complications and 20 for any other emergencies and male patients.

The hospital lies along the major transnational road from Tanzania to Uganda and other parts of Kenya through Kisumu City. The area is frequented with accidents and assault where most cases end up at the Matata Hospital, being that it is located within easy to reach site. In addition to accidents and assaults cases, there are other common diseases which attack suddenly and need urgent attention. With the hospital having no emergency room for such special and urgent attention, it means that the hospital continues to mix them with the normal cases within the queue. The queuing system with such emergency cases delays immediate attention and relief that would have been given had there been a distinct emergency room for the services.

It is therefore with this that Matata Hospital is writing this short Proposal application to develop a distinct Emergency Medical Room/Centre that would cater for immediate medical attention and care for accidents, assault and such like cases.
